Today is Second Day

Is it possible to get to know this huge city completely? Is it realistic or fanciful desire to
wander every street of Istanbul, to watch it from the top, to witness every season and to learn continuously growing this city? it is impossible for us because of our limited time. But today is full of surprises that we think even many Istanbul residents could not have an oppurtinity to see Istanbul from our angles.
When the sun starts heating red tiles on the roofs of Istanbul, we start our trip to historical peninsula. After we passed Galata tower, we arrive at Balat the place, which is insparation for many street photographers. When we are climbing up the hill, Fener Rum Erkek lisesi "Phanar Greek Orthodox Collegé welcomes us with its red bricks. the school looks like watching the fascinating landscape of Istanbul.

                                                                             Balat

We seem to lose in time when we are wandering zigzag shaped streets with short ascents, colorful and few storeyed houses and worship places. we encounter with the view of Golden Horn between buildings almost in every street. Are the cars that look like forgotten really forgotten? Maybe they turned into furnitures of the city as Mustafa Seven said.

After the dolphin that welcomed us yesterday, we witness tens of storks's migration in the yard of Topkapı Palace today. In your opinion, Can it be a sign that shows our journey will be magnificent? (Note: There is an idiom in Turkish called "leyleği havada görmek" It means if you see a flying stork, it is believed that you will travel a lot during the year)

It is difficult to leave from Balat but there is another unforgetable location next. Hagia Sophia, which is a 1500 years old landmark. We are on our way towards the world's fastest built cathedral. it served as a cathedral for Byzantium and mosque for Ottoman empreror. We are looking at Frescos on the wall and mozaics
admiringly.
After we left Hagia Sophia behind, we are going to Sultan Ahmed Mosque, which was ordered by 1. Ahmed and built by "Sedefkar Mehmet Aga". Sultan Ahmed Mosque is gorgeous withits minaret and tiles.

Hagia Sophia

We are moving to a point that is one of the rare locations to see Istanbul panaromically. After we arrived at 8th floor, we see Anatolian side, princes' islands,
Hagia Sophia, Suleymaniye. Everything about İstanbul is across. Everybody is charmed. We are going to Grand Bazaar now. one of our guides made a surprise
for us and we are climbing up stairs to a roof with groups of three people. Yes you understood! we are on the grand bazaar's roof that is set for famous movie.
Everybody is charmed again and nobody wants to go down. The group is moving slowly to stay there more that's why we missed the last entrance time for
Cistern Basilica. No panic! we will be in Istanbul again at the end of our journey.

We make everybody go down by saying we will miss the flight. our next stop is Spice Bazaar. we are moving fast to compensate time we lost in Grand Bazaar.
We enter from "Nuri Osmaniye" gate and moving towards "Mercan" gate. We are all hungry and tired but nobody cares. We are still in Istanbul.
Hagia Sophia, Topkapı Palace, Suleymaniye, Grand Bazaar, Spice Bazaar, Galata Bridge, Bosphorus, bridges, They are all in our minds.

We must eat something fast and go to airport now. We are going to be in Trabzon when we wake up. See you soon Istanbul!
