Route A 6thDay

We are in Upper Mesopotamia today. We visit Malabadi bridge. It is in the south-east of Turkey. Children from the village welcome us and begin to tell the legend of the bridge. Even instagrammers can understand the story because children memorized English of the story. They have a surprise for us. They are singing the song of bridge together.

Our next stop is Batman. When we arrive there, we understand that one of the reasons that makes Hasankeyf such an amazing place is The Tigris River. While we are crossing the river towards castle on the bridge, which bears the stamp of Romans and was completed by Artuqids, we encounter with children. They are coming from school. We see a Assyrian castle across the Artuqids Mausoleum.

We want to see the caves from Bronze age 8000 B.C. but we don't have enough time as usual. the tiles and stone carving in 1. Selim Mosque are charming us. Two hours after we leave from Batman, we arrive at Mardin where has no dead end street. Mardin has narrow streets, madrasas from the period of Urartu, Assyria and, Seljuq Empire and caravansaries.

We get lost in the city. The narrow streets sucks us like a whirlpool and make surprises when we turn every corner. sometimes we see children who fly a kite on the rooftops, play football on the streets or ride a bike and sometimes we see donkeys that collect garbage in a street because vehicles can not enter some streets. Can tolerance and hospitality spread to the world from here? Our answer is yes because every Mardin residents we encounter say hello and we notice that no house here blocks other house's front. When the sun goes down, we are watching the plateau which residents call "sea".
